This is the home of the Greater Delaware Valley
Costumers Guild. We are the Greater Delaware Valley Area Chapter of the International
Costumers Guild. Our membership area covers Southeastern Pennsylvania, South New Jersey,
Northern Delaware, and Northern Maryland.
What We Do........
We primarily work to educate people on the benefits of learning how to sew. We sew all types of
clothing from historical recreations to fantasy outfits. We make them from stock patterns
that we have altered to fit our needs. The membership is always
glad to assist a new member in making a difficult piece. We strive
to learn and pass on what we have learned from our experiences.
The Highlight of making the piece is a friendly Masquerade at a
convention where we put on a short display of our work.
Educational Work.......
We have in the past participated in and sponsored local
educational conferences including making a school mascot's
costume. This was done as a group project with each person in
the group working on the part they were best at.
Masquerade.........
The masquerade is what we work for. These are held at regional,
national, and international conventions. The conventions are
mostly science fiction related but there is a good following for the
costumers.
The masquerade is normally the highlight of one day. It is held in
the evening and usually put on to a full house.
During the conventions there are also panels and workshops
held that focus on costuming techniques, stage presentation, and
how to create ideas for your next costume.
